September sees many families arriving with toddlers and young pre-school children, meaning they can stay here avoiding the full on months of July and August. It’s a quieter time of year with often beautiful sunny days and golden evenings, a time for country walks with the dog and picking blackberries from the hedgerows!
We are fortunate to have plenty of attractions on the doorstep that appeal to young families and one of the best known is Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park. Peppa Pig World is close to Wallops Wood, just a 40 minute drive away.
Peppa Pig World is hugely popular and there’s good reason why. There’s no shortage of choice of activities for young families, you can meet Peppa and her friends, and have photographs taken on the veranda in front of the school house.
The Queen’s Flying Coach Ride takes families on a tour around Peppa Pig World in individual coaches on a monorail. There 9 further rides including Daddy Pig’s car ride, Grandpa Pig’s little train and Peppa Pig’s balloon ride, saving the best for Grampy Rabbit’s Sailing Club where you can cruise along the new water route around Peppa Pig World and discover Pirate Island.
Other activities for young families in the area include Manor Farm, a traditional farm near Southampton where there’s plenty of hands on activities for children including farmyard walks, milking goats and feeding lambs. There’s even a Victorian schoolhouse where you can meet the Victorian teacher and see how children were taught in the past.
While you’re there why not take part in Peter Rabbit and Friends, where you can search for the characters around the farm and then attend storytime sessions and enjoy some crafts. Peter Rabbit & Friends runs until 8 September. Find out more on the Manor Farm website.
