Fun For All the Family at Wallops Wood

One of the best things about having a holiday at Wallops Wood is that you’ll never be short of things to do. There’s plenty to entertain the whole family, from activities on the doorstep to attractions a little further away. Here are a few ideas to get you started. If taking it easy is more your idea of a holiday, you can always while the hours away in the hot tub, taking in the amazing views! 😎☀️

Before you go, please check the attractions are fully opened along with opening hours. For most attractions you’ll need to book tickets in advance to ensure entry and avoid disappointment.

Amazing Attractions

Paultons Park & Peppa Pig World – An amazing day out for all the family including roller coasters, family rides, indoor and outdoor play areas and water splash parks.

Marwell Zoo – A popular wildlife attraction aiming to conserve global biodiversity. Just 20 minutes from Wallops Wood.

Beaulieu – a wonderful museum of historic cars, plus Beaulieu Abbey, Palace House and the grounds and gardens to wander around in. (Grounds, garden and Little Beaulieu areas are open. Indoor areas expected to reopen on 17 May).

Weald & Downland Living Museum – famous for The Repair Shop, this fantastic museum has historic houses and architecture from days gone by, plenty of walks, farm animals and activities for children.

Go Ape Southampton – Go Ape offers a variety of activities for outdoor adventure, from tree-to-tree crossings with ropes, bouncy nets and zip wires.

A Trip to the Seaside

Being situated close to the coast there is plenty of seaside locally, but some of the more popular beaches in the area include:

Lee on the Solent – just 30 minutes away

Hayling Island – also about 30 minutes away

West Wittering – The best golden sandy beach to Wallops Wood Cottages (our staff love it) and about 45 minutes away

Southsea Seafront with its pier and funfair – about 30 minutes away

Out in the Fresh Air

Walks from Wallops Wood – there are plenty of walks you can take into the fabulous countryside that surrounds Wallops Wood. The best thing is that they can be taken straight from your cottage doorstep! Download from our website or find the laminated cards in your cottage.

Royal Victoria Country Park – Once the site of Britain’s largest military hospital. There is something for everyone including panoramic sea views, miniature railway & children’s play-areas.

Manor Farm Country Park – Also located near Southampton, the country park includes ancient woodland by the River Hamble with historic working farm at its centre. A great day out for the whole family.

The New Forest – a bit further afield, but plenty of walks, wildlife and not forgetting the New Forest ponies! 

What You Can Do at Wallops Wood

Weather not great, or just fancy a day at the cottage? There’s plenty here to keep you busy all day long too.

Books and Board Games – we’ve a selection of books and games that can be used during your stay. Please ask a member of staff and we can let you know what’s available.

Swimming Pool – each cottage has their own daily 45 minute slot at the pool, making the pool one of the most popular activities!

Meadow – our large meadow is for everyone to share. There’s plenty of space for the kids and dogs to play! 

Experiences – fancy making your own chocolate brownies? Our brownie making experience for the kids is another popular activity, and the end results even better! Contact us for further information.
