What’s On For the Bank Holiday Weekend

This weekend is a Bank Holiday weekend so we’ve put together a list of things to do locally to Wallops Wood. The August Bank Holiday Weekend is the one we all look forward to with the promise of sunny days, and there are always plenty of events, fairs and festivals on in Hampshire. If you’re staying with us over the August bank holiday, take time to discover the local area and it’s great events.

Victorious Festival – this is an annual music festival held in Southsea which has become quite an event in Portsmouth! Along with some big names headlining the music stages is a variety of activities for everyone including markets, street food, entertainment for the kids, a circus, skatepark, comedy, music workshops and literary events. There’s plenty to entertain the whole family and will make a fantastic day out. Strict COVID guidelines are in place, so please check these on the website before booking tickets. Find out more.

Artisan Pop-up Crafters Market – this popular craft market is being held on 30 August in Waterlooville, which is a short drive from Wallops Wood. Expect to find a range of craft stalls, food stalls, plants and local drink producers. Find out more on their Facebook page.

Hampshire Open Studios promotes artists and craft makers across Hampshire. The Open Studios are on from 21-30 August with more than 250 craft venues open during the period. A map of venues is available on their website so you can plan your route to visit several artists at once. Find out more. 

CarFest South is an event for all the family with a weekend full of all kinds of cars, music, some famous faces and delicious food. Plus lots of fun, activities and entertainment for the kids! Profits from the event are contributed to several children’s charities. CarFest South is held at Laverstock Park Farm which is around 25 miles from Wallops Wood. Find out more and book tickets.

Romans in Residence is a weekend demonstrating how the Romans lived at Butser Ancient Farm. With a contingent from the Butser IX Roman Legion you will experience Roman cookery, crafts, games and more. Discover what life would have been like in Roman Britain! Find out more.

The Emsworth Show, held on Monday 30th August, is wonderful family day out, with a huge marquee with fruit, vegetables, flowers, cookery, crafts and photography. Plus two arenas with entertainment including a dog show, craft stalls, a food area and plenty more. Tickets need to be booked in advance. Find out more.
