What’s On for Half Term

With many attractions now fully open, it means that there’s a lot more to do and enjoy in Hampshire this upcoming half term holiday. 

Below is a list of attractions local to Wallops Wood, and you can find out more about what’s on when clicking through to the relevant website. You will need to book tickets in advance and COVID rules are still in place, which means social distancing measures will must be observed. Please check to ensure the attraction is open before setting out. 

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard – We’re really glad that the Historic Dockyard re-opened on 17 May. It’s a fantastic day out for the whole family with plenty to see and do.

Blue Reef Aquarium – This sea life centre has also just re-opened, and it makes for a fun day out seeing the aquatic life from exotic fish to otters.

The Watercress Line – Just up the road from Wallops Wood is the Watercress Line, a fabulous steam railway running from Alton to Alresford. Check out the website for special days including Thomas the Tank Engine from 29 May to 6 June.

Butser Ancient Farm – The farm is an experimental archaeology site featuring reconstructions of ancient buildings from the Stone Age, Iron Age, Roman Britain and the Anglo-Saxon period. Find out more about what’s on at half term.

Beaulieu National Motor Museum – A popular attraction which is now fully open including the indoor car displays. Find out more about what’s on at half term. 

Weald & Downland Living Museum – There’s always lots to see and do at this museum and there’s plenty to keep the kids entertained over half term. Find out more about half term activities here.

Paultons Park – This is one of the most visited attractions by families staying at Wallops Wood. Check out their new area, Tornado Springs, a brand new world featuring 8 incredible new rides and experiences.

Marwell Zoo – Very close to Wallops Wood, Marwell Zoo is well worth visiting with plenty to keep the whole family occupied. From watching the animals including giraffes, tigers & penguins, a 140-acre park and 5 adventure playgrounds. There are daily talks, animal feeding, a cafe and gift shop.

Winchester Science Centre & Planetarium – For the science boffins out there, the museum is an adventure through the world of science, technology, engineering and maths. There are fun and interactive exhibits including an enormous 10m long playable guitar and the out-of-this-world Explorer:Space zone.
