One of the most popular facilities we have at Wallops Wood is our indoor swimming pool. The pool opened in May 2018 and has since been very well used by both adult and younger guests alike! Accessible guests particularly enjoy it.
Our pool measures 13×6 metres, is 1.45m deep and heated to a very pleasant 30-31°C . The integrated jacuzzi makes it a great place to relax and for parents to lounge around whilst watching children enjoying a swim or play.
Easy access
It’s easy for everyone to use our pool – you can access it via nine gentle steps with a handrail on the side. For our disabled guests, both the pool and jacuzzi can be accessed via a hoist. The hoist has a hard moulded seat or a soft strap seat, you choose which one you prefer.
Underfloor heating around the perimeter of the pool and in the changing rooms keeps your toes warm throughout the pool complex. There are showers and changing rooms to rinse yourself before and after your dip.
Accessible facilities
The accessible bathroom is really amazing. Large and spacious, which enables electric wheelchairs access and there are grab rails all around too. We also have a showering seat for anyone who needs it.
There is a family changing room too! We have a bench and a shower and again this can also be used by our accessible guests. On the other side we have installed lockers and another bench, as well as a large mirror. You can just walk out of your cottage and get changed here – it’s perfect!
Did you know we also use high colour contrast between the walls, partitions and furniture so that visually impaired guests can guide themselves around?
All the lights come on automatically as soon as someone walks in. Again, perfect for all guests to feel safe and cosy in a warm environment.
New Infrared Sauna!
More recently we’ve opened an infra-red sauna for guests. This has been a very welcome addition to our facilities and means guests can spend even more time relaxing and enjoying our pool area!
Our sauna is wheelchair accessible too ! We made sure the door handle is low enough for all wheelchair users and the on and off button are just touch buttons on the side.
Please read the instruction on the door and also check if you have certain medical conditions that where taking a sauna might not be suitable for., All children must e accompanied by an adult and cannot enter or use the sauna unless they are 12 years old +.
