Another of Hampshire’s amazing local producers who is a key supplier to our pop-up Hampshire summer feast, taking place this week is New Forest Mushrooms.
New Forest Mushrooms supply locally foraged and cultivated mushrooms, some of which include the ever popular cepes/porcini, morels, chanterelle/girolle and local truffles.

Richard of New Forest Mushrooms, is one of the few people who can offer fresh, wild, local truffles in the whole of the UK. These are gathered by hand from private land along with the wild mushrooms that they supply, so you know the provenance and the taste will be exceptional.
There are several varieties of mushroom that are available to eat in July, such as porcini, chanterelle, Judas Ear, oyster mushrooms and the rather exotic sounding saffron milkcap.

Mushrooms are featured in the fourth course of the summer feast menu in the ‘celebration of Hampshire roots, shoots & leaves’. Hampshire’s finest roots and leaves being served with New Forest Mushrooms. This course promises to be a feast of flavour!

You can find out more about New Forest Mushrooms on their website along with dates for local forays for mushroom picking as well as purchasing wild mushrooms online.
