Enjoy a Cosy Drink at a Local Pub

One thing we can look forward to in the colder months is sitting in a warm cosy pub by a fireside and enjoying a delicious meal. It makes it even more special if you’ve included it as part of a long country walk where you can stop off and warm up before heading back. 

We’re lucky to have several award-winning pubs near Wallops Wood, which can all be taken as part of a walk and all serve good pub fare. They are dog friendly and give you the opportunity to take a rest and enjoy a great meal or drink before returning to your cottage.

The Bakers Arms is the nearest pub to Wallops Wood in the pretty village of Droxford. It takes about 5 minutes in the car or as part of a one hour walk. The Shoe, Exton

The Shoe is a lovely award winning, dog friendly pub based in the village of Exton which you can either drive to or go to as part of a one hour walk. It has a very pretty spot in the village with a riverside garden and great views of Old Winchester Hill. The food they serve is sourced locally and you enjoy a wonderful meal by the fireside. The River Meon at The Shoe, Exton

The Bucks Head, Meonstoke

Sister pub to The Shoe, The Bucks Head is located in the village of Meonstoke and you can walk there as part of a one hour circular walk. In a beautiful setting in the Meon Valley, you will find some delicious food and drink in a welcoming environment. A perfect place for a stop off while you explore the area. The White Lion, Soberton

The White Lion in the village of Soberton, close to Wallops Wood can also be visited as part of a one hour circular walk. They offer a cosy place to stop off with log fires in the winter. Food and drink are sourced locally including ales from Bowmans Also Brewery on the Wallops Wood estate. With several awards under their belt, you won’t be disappointed!
