Art and Craft in the Meon Valley

Art and Craft in the Meon Valley

From wood turning to loom weaving, jewellery design to pottery, Hampshire is a county full of wonderful crafts. In and around the Meon Valley are a number of locations where you can sign up to a course to experience it for yourself:

Butser Ancient Farm – workshops take you right back to life in prehistoric Britain, including the Stone Age, Iron Age, Roman and Saxon eras. These inspiring sessions provide hands-on experience in ancient crafts and traditional skills in an atmospheric setting. All necessary tools are provided and all materials included in the price. Workshops include metalworking, carving and weaving. http://www.butserancientfarm.co.uk/adult-workshops/

Chocolate Craft – experience chocolate heaven with a chocolate workshop! Based in Old Alresford, during these courses you’ll be shown the tricks of the trade to make chocolates like the professionals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PICE1QOoS1Ihttp://chocolatecraft.co.uk/chocolate-workshops/

Jerry Smith – Jerry is an artist living in the village of Swanmore. The local Meon Valley landscape is a constant source of inspiration for his paintings. He runs oil painting workshops, teaching under-painting, colour theory/mixing and paint application techniques in order to complete a painting. http://www.jerrysmithartist.co.uk/tuition.html

Meon Valley Studio – learn some new skills in making silver jewellery or improve on those skills you already possess. You can take advantage of a set project brief or work with project ideas that you might already have. Whichever route you take a tutor will guide and advise you, helping you achieve your goal. http://www.meonvalleystudio.com/courses.php

Perfectly Potty Pottery – workshops will help you learn how to throw and decorate pottery on the wheel and hand build with clay. http://www.perfectlypotty.co.uk/potteryworkshop.php

Sustainability Centre – courses and workshops are all tailored around sustainable skills and crafts, including willow weaving, candle making and herbal medicine. http://www.sustainability-centre.org/adult-courses.html
